SAFE Unit™

Your Community Emergency Alert Device

You're almost connected. Just 3 easy steps to register your SAFE Unit and start receiving life-saving alerts from your city's emergency management office.

Why register?

Once registered, your SAFE Unit will automatically receive real-time emergency alerts directly from your city's emergency management office — severe weather warnings, evacuation notices, shelter-in-place orders, and more. No app. No phone signal needed. Just plug it in and stay connected.

Three simple steps

How to register

1

Take your SAFE Unit out of the box

Inside your package you'll find your SAFE Unit device, a power adapter (standard wall plug), and this registration guide. Set your SAFE Unit on a flat surface near a power outlet in a common area of your home — a kitchen counter, living room shelf, or entryway works great. Keep it somewhere your whole household can hear it.

2

Plug it in and turn it on

1. Connect the power adapter to the port on the back of the unit.
2. Plug the other end into a standard wall outlet.
3. Press and hold the power button on the side for 3 seconds.
4. Wait for the screen to light up — this takes about 30 seconds.

When you see the SAFE Unit welcome screen, you're ready for Step 3.

Tip: Place your SAFE Unit where it will stay plugged in permanently. It works best when it's always on and connected.
3

Scan the QR code and register

When your SAFE Unit powers on, a unique QR code will appear on the screen.

1. Open the camera app on your smartphone or tablet.
2. Point it at the QR code on your SAFE Unit screen.
3. Tap the link that appears on your phone.
4. Follow the short on-screen instructions to enter your: Name, Address, Household size (optional but recommended), Preferred contact phone number.
5. Tap “Complete Registration”.

That's it. Your SAFE Unit is now registered. 🎉

You'll receive a confirmation on your phone, and your unit will display a green checkmark when registration is complete.
